If you’re looking to cosmetically correct or enhance the appearance of one or more teeth, we suggest veneers. They are thin, porcelain or resin shells, requiring minimal or no tooth preparation, that you can customise in colour and shape. They are similar to having a false nail on your tooth.
WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON USE FOR VENEERS?
Veneers are most commonly used for people with:
Chipped or broken teeth
Misshapen or irregular teeth
Teeth that do not respond to traditional whitening treatments
HOW ARE VENEERS FITTED?
We may reduce the tooth or teeth where the veneer(s) will sit
An impression will be taken of your bite for veneer fabrication
The colour of porcelain prosthetics can then be customized
We will fit you with a temporary veneer if we have had to trim any teeth, until the lab makes your permanent one
You will come in again for permanent veneer fitting
HOW DO I CARE FOR VENEERS?
Veneers will still need strict regular maintenance to keep them clean including brushing and flossing. Even though the bond is strong, you should avoid using the teeth that the veneer is on as, like false nails, putting pressure on these may cause them to break off as they are only thin.
A crown, sometimes known as a ‘cap’ is an ideal restoration for teeth that are very weak, have a large filling or have been root treated. These fit over the remaining part of trimmed teeth, making it stronger and gives it the shape of a natural tooth. Crowns are available in a variety of materials and it is possible to match the shade to your natural teeth.
